Emo is a style that a lot of people, especially young people, are getting into right now. It is characterized by a few standard fashion rules… these include things like lots of eye liner, wearing shirts that are a size too small, wearing hoodies that are two sizes too big, and Converses.

There are a lot of ways that you can “emo up” your appearance, so here are some of them. First, make sure that you wear plenty of eye liner. You need to wear it above and below the eye. Generally, if you look like you have gotten punched in the eye, you have it right.

Hair plays another big part in how emo you are. You almost never keep your natural hair color. You either dye it black or brown, and you then perhaps put streaks in it to display one or more shades of neon red or blue. Just don’t go too crazy with the hair color, as too much color isn’t very emo.

For clothes, you generally wear super-tight jeans, whether or not you are a guy or girl. It is actually pretty emo for guys to wear girls jeans, so perhaps pick some up at your local store. These jeans should be skinny, should be low-cut, and should be at least a size too small. It is not very emo to wear very baggy jeans… however, a baggy hoodie is ok. It can also be emo to wear a tie, and you definitely need to wear t-shirts with famous band logos on them. This is cool, but you will be even more emo if you wear t-shirts showing off the logos of obscure underground bands. You will also need to buy some serious bracelets and bands for your wrists, enough to completely cover them.
